Careers

Fort York Digital is a small agency in Toronto. We build and rank local lead-generation websites and sell local SEO to contractors and service businesses in the US and Canada. We are interested in people who do careful work, write plainly, and tell the truth about what they know.

All roles are remote. Most start as contract or part-time work. Pay, hours, and any benefits are confirmed for the specific opening before any offer is made.

What We Look For

  • Care about the work. Set up a Google Business Profile properly, not just quickly.
  • Plain language. You will write for business owners and their customers. Short sentences beat jargon.
  • Honesty about results. We do not promise rankings or timelines to clients. You should not either.
  • Reliability. Doing what you said, when you said, matters more than any line on a resume.

Roles We Hire For

This is a one-person agency today. Openings will follow client work. These are the roles we expect to hire for first. Every role means direct work with the founder as client accounts come on.

Local SEO Specialist

Set up and maintain Google Business Profiles for clients: categories, services, service areas, photos, posts, Q&A, and messaging. Track map pack positions from several points in each city and keep citations and NAP details consistent.

  • Experience with Google Business Profile, citations, or rank tracking is helpful.
  • Ability to follow Google's guidelines, including its review policy, and to flag anything that breaks them.

Content Writer (guides for trades)

Write guides and service pages for clients and for our own site. Explain what to do and why, in plain English, with no hype and no invented statistics.

  • Writing samples that show short sentences, clear structure, and a direct opening answer.
  • Ability to work from a brief, a keyword list, and a short list of approved facts.

Outreach Specialist (cold email lists and sequences)

Build lists of local businesses in target US cities, verify contact details, and write short cold email sequences. One business per trade per city means the list has to be accurate.

  • Experience with list building, email verification, or a cold email tool is useful.
  • Ability to write a three-sentence email that sounds like one person wrote it.

WordPress Developer

Build and maintain fast, simple WordPress sites for clients and for our own lead-generation properties. Work includes theme setup, forms, schema markup, speed fixes, and hosting or DNS tasks.

  • Experience building WordPress sites with a lightweight theme or a custom one.
  • Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and enough PHP to adjust templates safely.

French or Spanish Content Specialist

Write and adapt site content and Google Business Profile text in French or Spanish for clients who serve those customers. Flag where a straight translation would not work, and keep the same plain style we use in English.

  • Native or professional fluency in French or Spanish, with strong written English.
  • Care with names, addresses, and service lists so nothing drifts between versions.

How to Apply

Email [email protected] with "Careers" and the role in the subject line. Include:

  • A short note about the kind of work you have done
  • Your resume, or a list of previous jobs and dates
  • Two or three samples or links, if the role involves writing or building
  • Your time zone and the hours you can reliably work

We read every application. If there is a fit, expect a short video call first, then a small paid test task so you can see the work before you commit.

There may be no opening right now. Send your information anyway. We keep applications on file and contact those people first when a spot opens.

Fort York Digital considers all applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, or any other characteristic protected by law.
